• Isle of Iona
• Iona became known as the "holy island" where several kings from Scotland, Ireland and Norway chose to be buried. St Colm-Cille was banished from Ireland in 563 so he and 12 companions set up a monastery on the Isle of Iona. From there, they proceded to convert pagan Scotland and the northern part of England to Christianity. At present, the monastery is an ecumenical centre which very active in Christian education, liturgy and outreach.
  
  
• Glen Folk Village
• Glen Folk Village was the brainchild of Fr McDyer who was transferred to Glencolmcille in 1951. He recognised immediately that the area suffered form lack of employment and emigration. During the past 70 years, the area had lost 60% of its population due to the root causes of poor land, distance to any major centre and lack of industry. Fr McDyer determined to do whatever he could to break this cycle. Building the Folk Village Museum was the start. This was an usual thing to do in Ireland at the time since even famous landmarks are often ignored in some field someplace. The Irish are getting a little better at preserving their heritage now.

• Celtic Woman is an awe inspiring musical tour de force. There DVD at Slane Castle in Dublin is an absolute joy. I don't believe I have every heard music sung more purely than in this performance.

• We chose to live in Cobourg 15 years ago and we love it. It's on the north shore of Lake Ontario acrossthe Lake form Rochester N.Y. It's about 90 km east of Toronto and about 350 km from Montreal to the East. Among many attributes it has the primary ones have to be the sandy beach and Victoria Park which are just down the street where we live.
