Glutathione
Glutathione is the cornerstone of the human immune system.
What is Glutathione?
GSH -The Molecule by Dr Jimmy Gutman.
" Glutathione is the general term for glutathione sulfhydryl , abbreviated as GSH.
The "SH" represents the critically active sulfur sulfhydryl group. GSH is a peptide (very small protein) that
occurs naturally within the body, where it is assembled by individual cells from its three components--the amino
acids glycine, glutamate (glutamic acid) and the all important cysteine. Because it contains three amino acids it
is referred to as a tripeptide....Of the three amino acids, cysteine is the hardest to find...and the most
important of these raw ingredients. When cells have cysteine, they can efficiently, they can efficiently
manufacture GSH. However, this amino acid is absent or deficient in many diets." p13,14 GSH, The Body's Most
Powerful Protector
What does Glutathione(GSH) do?
It has 3 main functions
a. Antioxidant
b. Detoxifier
c. Immune System Enhancer
These 3 functions are not separate: the immune system is simply using glutathione
to do its job.
Here is what immune system experts are saying:
Lorna R. Vanderhaeghe and Patrick J.D. Bouic, Ph.D. "The Immune System Cure"
"No other antioxidant is as important to overall health as glutathione. It is the regenerator of immune cells
and the most valuable detoxifying agent in the body. Low levels are associated with early aging and even death"
Nutrition Reviews 54: 1-30, 1996
"Raised glutathione levels fight the oxidation of circulating fats in the bloodstream, including cholesterol,
retarding the process of plaque formation in the arteries--the underlying cause of most heart disease and
stroke"
Allan Somersall Ph.D, M.D., and Gustavo Bounous, M.D. FRCS (C)
" Without glutathione, other important antioxidants such as vitamin C and E cannot do their job adequately to
protect your body against disease."
Clinical Science 91: 575-582, 1996
"Diabetics are prone to infections and circulatory problems leading to heart disease, kidney failure and
blindness. Glutathione protects against the complications of diabetes."
Gut 42: 484-492, 1998
"Glutathione protects the body from the inflammation of gastritis, stomach ulcers, pancreatitis and inflammatory
bowel disease including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease."
"Glutathione in Health and Disease" Dr Patricia Kongshavn, MSC, Ph.D. January 2005
"Glutathione (GSH) deficiency contributes to oxidative stress and therefore appears to play a key role in the
pathology of many diseases"
Journal of Clinical Epidemiology 47: 1021-26 1994
"It is well know that aging is accompanied by a precipitous fall in glutathione levels. Lower glutathione levels
are implicated in many diseases associated with aging, including cataracts, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's,
atherosclerosis and others."
"Glutathione: Essential Health Aid-Antioxidant, Immune Booster and Detoxifier", Dr. Jimmy Gutman, M.D. FACEP
"Your life depends on glutathione. Without it, your cells would disintegrate from unrestrained oxidation, your
body would have little resistance to bacteria, viruses and cancer, and your liver would shrivel up from the
eventual accumulation of toxins"
"The Immune System Cure" Lorna R. Vanderhaeghe and Patrick J.D. Bouic, Ph.D.
"Glutathione is important in DNA synthesis and repair--detoxification of toxins and carcinogens, enhancement of
the immune system, and protection from oxidation.."
Immunology 61: 503-508, 1987
Immune depressed individuals have lower glutathione (GSH) concentrations. Healthy people also drop their
glutathione levels when fighting disease. Lymphocytes, cells vital for your immune system, depend on GSH for their
proper function and replication"
Biochemical Pharmacology 47: 2113-2123 1994
Antioxidants are well documented and known to possess vital roles in health maintenance and disease prevention.
Glutathione is your cell's own major antioxidant. Maintaining elevated glutathione levels aids the body's natural
antioxidant function."
Dr Patricia Kongshaven, MSC, Ph.D
" It is on record that there are many medical disorders associated with glutathione deficiency. These include
AIDS and cancer wasting, some intestinal disorders, lung diseases, over-trained athletes syndrome and trauma.
Further more, as we age, glutathione levels decrease which no doubt explains, in part, an older person's lowered
resistance to disease."
Dr Jimmy Gutman M.D., Senior Medical Consultant, Immunotec
"Whether you are an elite athlete or challenged by illness, consistently elevating your glutathione levels will
benefit your immune system"
Dr James F. Balch, Author "Nutritional Healing"
"I can't think of anything better that you can do for your overall health and well being than taking Immunocal
on a regular basis"
Dr Luc Montagnier , Winner 2008 Nobel Prize in Medicine
"Glutathione is of major importance in cellular antioxidant activity, and that Immunocal functioning as a
cysteine delivery system can enhance glutathione synthesis.."
Immunotec
" Fact: Immunocal is scientifically proven to raise glutathione"
